Scout SundayWelcome to the

Church of the Advent!

As we prepare ourselves for Lent we begin to focus more on our Spiritual lives.  This year at the Advent, we will be focusing on pilgrimage, prayer, and deepening our relationships with God and with each other.

In February, we will focus our Wednesday Bible Study on the smaller epistles beginning with first John's emphasis of God being love.

Our Lenten series this year will focus on pilgrimage.  Pilgrimage is a type of somatic prayer.  Prayer is not always best expressed through words.  Sometimes a journey can be a powerful prayer.  Early Christianity was described as "the way", and it is still an apt description.  We will journey together on field trips as well as study this powerful tool for our life in Christ.

We will also be restarting our blog soon which will be a creative source of prayers and storytelling.

We will also have some great fellowship opportunities beginning with the Rector's Chowder and Chili Challenge on February 12th.

The Advent is a loving and faithful community that seeks to follow Jesus in our often chaotic modern world.  We worship the Lord in the "beauty of holiness" with a theologically rich liturgy and a warm, joyful spirit.  I encourage you to make the Church of the Advent your new spiritual home.  We will all be better for your presence.

Further down the page you will find some important events in the life of the church.
