Welcome to the

Church of the Advent!

 Christmas sermon 1

Advent is the season of anticipation.  We long for the joys of Christmas, and we seek a more loving and just world that comes with the Kingdom of God.  We ask that you join us to honor this important season.

Being the Church of the Advent, we take this Pageant 1 2017season seriously, and we have several events to mark the time.  We will continue our long tradition of a special Advent Series with a study of a few of the important words of the season – peace, hope, joy, and love.  We will look at how these words work in the bible and what they mean to us today.  We will meet at the rectory at 6:30 pm on December 5th and 12th for a soup supper and discussion.

On December 16th, we will be celebrating Advent III with a choir 2015special service of Lessons and Carols led by the choir.  After our worship, we will enjoy each other’s company with our annual Advent Brunch.

On December 24th, we will celebrate Christmas with choir and instruments with a family Eucharist at 5:00 pm and a Festal Eucharist with a candlelight vigil at 9:30 pm.  Christmas Day will feature a said Eucharist at 10:00 am.

We honor the season of Christmas together on December 30th when we replace our usual worship with a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols at 9:30 am.  We conclude our seasonal celebrations with our Epiphany/Christmas Pageant on January 6th at 9:30 am.  It is always great fun.

The Advent is a loving and faithful community that  seeks to follow Jesus in our often chaotic modern  world.  We worship the Lord in the "beauty of  holiness" with a theologically rich liturgy and a warm,  joyful spirit.  I encourage you to make the Church of the Advent your new spiritual home.  We will all be better for your presence.

Further down the page you will find some important events in the life of the church.

Blessings,

Marc Eames, Rector
