Church of the Advent, Medfield, MA

The Church of the Advent is an Episcopal Church in union with the diocese of Massachusetts.  We worship the Lord in the "beauty of  holiness" with a theologically rich liturgy and a warm,  joyful spirit.  Parishioners are Christians from many different backgrounds.  We welcome you whereever you may be on your spiritual journey.  The Advent has a positive vision of God's movement in the world.  God's grace supports this church and communities throughout the globe in our work to make the world a little more like the Kingdom of God.

If you are looking for a loving and supportive community to grow your faith, I encourage you to make the Church of the Advent your new spiritual home.  We will all be better for your presence.

We are united through Christ

We believe in The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

God is the creator of the universe and giver of all that is good. God is the savior—known boldly and intimately in Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection—who shows us how to live and love. God is the Spirit who enables us to make a difference in our world and in the lives of others. We believe that grace is the love, honesty, and compassion that God gives and shows us in Jesus. It’s how Jesus saves us, heals us, sets us free, and increases our capacity for love. We believe that we need each other. Whether single, married/partnered, divorced or widowed, it’s a lot easier to follow God with friends than it is by ourselves.

We are here for you

We preach grace not guilt

We believe that Jesus extends grace to everyone and that we should follow in his steps. Who are we to pass judgment and not extend grace, when we ourselves have sinned?  We believe we should love the sinner, not banish them.

We worship together

We believe that Jesus is central to everything. We believe that prayer is a direct line to God, and that we should speak to God every chance we get. Worship is our chance to praise God.  Our main form of worship is the Holy Eucharist which allows us to commune with God and the people of God.  We worship with open and thankful hearts, and then go off into the world to bring the love and peace of God.

We believe in the power of fellowship

We are called to join in fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. God did not put us here on our own, but has blessed us with good company and strong examples of lives of faith.  We are to be an encouragement to one another during times of adversity, and we share each other's joys when we are blessed.

We are a church committed to loving our neighbor

Jesus called us to go out and spread the Good News of God. This is done through our outreach ministries through acts of love and charity as well as sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those we meet.

Come as you are

We want you to come just as you are. When you walk through our doors you may see people in suits and ties, but you will also see people in jeans and t-shirts. We want to make sure when you visit you are comfortable and that is all that matters to us. As long you are come through our doors, we want to make sure you feel loved and welcomed. If you ever need anything, always feel free to connect with us. We love to hear from our new visitors.
